The State Board of Elections has identified Michelle Pharr, general manager of the Clarion Hotel in Kill Devil Hills, who also is affiliated with the Comfort Inn South in Nags Head, as the writer and sender of a letter to out-of-town property owners urging them to vote in the referendum held April 17, 2007.

Dare County has begun the process of examining the possible need for remediation of the underground storage tanks on the site of the new administration building now under construction.

The average salary for a full nine-month faculty member at a North Carolina community college is $44,008; however, the average salary for full-time College of the Albemarle (COA) faculty member is $39,150.

State fisheries commissioner Jim Leutze would like to see more marine patrol officers in North Carolina.

Thanksgiving was first celebrated by the settlers at Plymouth in the Massachusetts colony in 1621 under the leadership of Governor William Bradford.

The Town of Nags Head attempted last Wednesday to approve an ordinance amendment to make all fireworks illegal beginning next year. The action was a continuation of discussion on fireworks from May of this year.
