Dare County Board of EducationWith just 63 votes separating them, it appears that newcomer Anthony Fletcher has unseated incumbent school board member Joseph Farrow. With less than one percentage point separating the two candidates, expect a call for a recount of the 3112 votes for Fletcher and the 3049 ballots cast for Farrow. Incumbent David Oaksmith and newcomers Ben Sproul and Bea Basnight all ran unopposed. If tradition is followed, Basnight will be the next board chairman based on the fact that she captured 5894 votes — almost a thousand more than each of the other unchallenged candidates.
